TEHRAN (IQNA) – A ceremony was held in the city of Giza, Egypt, to honor girls who have learned the Holy Quran by heart.

The Al-Izz Quran teaching center affiliated to Al-Azhar Islamic University organized the function, which was also attended by a number of Al-Azhar scholars.  

The girls received certificates of honor and certificates of Quran memorization at the event, according to At-Tariq website.

A large number of people, including the girls’ family members, participated in the huge graduation ceremony.

Social media users hailed the organization of such events to encourage memorization of the Holy Book, saying these girls who have learned the Quran by heart are Egypt’s strategic reserves against deviation and going astray.

The Holy Quran is the only religious Scripture that is memorized by its followers.

Innumerable persons in every Muslim community have memorized the Quran since the first day it was revealed.

The Quran has 30 Juzes (parts), 114 Surahs (chapters) and 6,236 verses.

Egypt is an Arab country in North Africa with a population of around 96 million.

Muslims account for around 90 percent of the country’s total population.

Quranic activities are very common in the Muslim-majority Arab country and many of the Muslim world’s top Qaris in the past and present have been Egyptian.
